The USA Shito-Kai Midwestern region celebrated it's 15th anniversary with a Gashuku featuring WSKF pan-American president Shoko Sato. Jeff Bedard, serving as general secretary for the U.S. chapter, hosted at the new Shito-Kai Training Center in Swansea, Illinois.
In attendance were USA Shito-Kai Vice Chairman Daisuke Sato who also served as translator, president Douglas A. Dennis, regional directors Frank Pugarita and Luis Sanchez, communication directors Monique Fields (English) and Oswaldo Portillo (Espanol), club owners Charles Jarnagin, Gino Alfonso, Jeff Jenkins, and special guests Bassam Rammaha and Alex Bruno.
Kyoshi Sato stressed the importance of working in harmony to preserve the essence of Shitoryu.
* Sensei need
to train alongside their students. Like ships on water, the tide raises
everyone's level.
* Posture and technique are always
natural in relation to the human form.
* Use common sense to explore utility
of Kata bunkai
* Keep a balance between sport and
traditional skills
* Preserve discipline - personally
and proffessionaly
* Be courteous and punctual
The weekend's activities included Kata of Ananko and Matsumura Seisan.

The 15th Pan-American Shitoryu Karate-Do Meeting & Congress
Conducted by Master Sato and Master Choda
The PSKF Congress and general assembly was held on Friday, August 3, 2012 in Gatineau. Attendees were 2 delegates per country and the following issues were discussed:
- Introductions and general updates provided by each country (Canada, USA, Mexico, Nicaragua, Brazil, Venezuela, Dominican Republic)
Special appreciation to Canada for hosting a wonderful Pan-Am event in Gatineau.
- The proposed new structure of PSKF Organization from 2012 – 2017 was proposed and later approved by the President and Executive Director of PSKF. The new organization will have 4 regional VPs, a Secretary General and Chief Referee for the region. Also, a special technical advisory committee was formed with Masters Murayama, Sato and Choda in it. Kametani Sensei was appointed as Director of International Relations in charge of liaising PSKF matters with WSKF in Japan (See chart below)
- New statutes and by-laws for PSKF organization will be developed taken into account other Shitoryu organizations around the world.
- Importance to attend and support the WSKF World Karate Championship in Tokyo in 2013 was reminded to all delegates.
- The next Pan-American Championship will be held a year after the WSKF World Championship (2014). Mexico formally presented an offer to host the next Pan-American championships. USA (Miami) also presented a proposal afterwards which will be duly considered and decided by the President and Executive Director.
- http://pskf.net has been decided to be the official website of Pan-American Shitoryu Karate-Do Federation.
The USA Shito-Kai delegation attended the 2012 World Shitoryu Federation's pan-American Championship August 5-7 in Gatineau, Canada.
